What We Do

Arts & Culture
We encourage members to support the arts and culture programs in our community. We promote crafts, theater, dining out, music and other aspects of art and culture that inspire women to make the world a more beautiful, thoughtful and caring place. We believe that art and culture is perpetually intwined in all that we do. .

Environment & Conservation
This program encourages us to become stewards of the earth by working to preserve its resources, protect wildlife and domesticated animals, live sustainably , beautify our communities and enjoy nature. Our commitment to Joe B. Parks Memorial Garden, seasonal planting at Riverside Rest Home, weekly nature walks and our annual plant sale are part of how we learn, experience and teach about the wonderful world of nature around us.

Civic Engagement & Outreach
We encourage the process of connecting individuals in our community with one another. We support and consistently volunteer at The Dover Food Pantry and End 68 Hours of Hunger. We thank our essential workers medical, police and fire personnel. We work to create a better quality of life for our veterans, our unhoused, hungry and needy.

Health & Wellness
We work to improve our wellbeing through nutrition, disease prevention and physical and emotional care. Our Chairwoman provides us with regular updates on healthcare news. We recognize that promoting good health benefits members of our community especially the elderly, expectant mothers and children of all ages. Our weekly walking club benefits both body and mind as we walk our community trails and enjoy a nice chat.

Education & Libraries
We work to strengthen schools, promote libraries, literacy and the love of books. The National Library Association has credited GFWC with establishing 75% of the nations libraries. We also have an active book club!

Domestic Violence
The programs goal is to increase awareness and help prevent the widespread occurrence of violence against women across the nation and globe. We focus on intimate partner and teen dating violence, child abuse and sexual assault of elderly, Native American or military women and human trafficking. We work to support Haven with personal care bags and donations. We are a politically non-partisan group that calls awareness to legislation that can benefit a vulnerable population.

Advocates for Children
We are encouraged to make a difference in the life of a child by being an advocate. This program encourages clubwomen to provide a voice for children and to teach and encourage parents and caregivers to advocate for children at a grassroots level. We help out at The Dover Children's home with school supplies, Thanksgiving and regular monthly meals.
